夢李白之一 Seeing Li Bai in a Dream I

杜甫 Du Fu

There are sobs when death is the cause of parting;
sǐ bié yǐ tūn shēng ,
But life has its partings again and again.
shēng bié cháng cè cè 。
...From the poisonous damps of the southern river
jiāng nán zhàng lì de ,
You had sent me not one sign from your exile –
zhú kè wú xiāo xī 。
Till you came to me last night in a dream,
gù rén rù wǒ mèng ,
Because I am always thinking of you.
míng wǒ zhǎng xiāng yì ;
I wondered if it were really you,
jūn jīn zài luó wǎng ,
Venturing so long a journey.
hé yǐ yǒu yǔ yì ?
You came to me through the green of a forest,
kǒng fēi píng shēng hún ,
You disappeared by a shadowy fortress....
lù yuǎn bù kě cè 。
Yet out of the midmost mesh of your snare,
hún lái fēng lín qīng ,
How could you lift your wings and use them?
hún fǎn guān sāi hēi ;
滿
...I woke, and the low moon's glimmer on a rafter
luò yuè mǎn wū liáng ,
Seemed to be your face, still floating in the air.
yóu yí zhào yán sè 。
...There were waters to cross, they were wild and tossing;
shuǐ shēn bō làng kuò ,
使
If you fell, there were dragons and rivermonsters.
wú shǐ jiāo lóng dé 。
