I have sailed the River of Yellow Flowers,
yán rù huáng huā chuān ,
谿
Borne by the channel of a green stream,
měi zhú qīng xī shuǐ ;
Rounding ten thousand turns through the mountains
suí shān jiāng wàn zhuǎn ,
On a journey of less than thirty miles....
qù tú wú bǎi lǐ 。
Rapids hum over heaped rocks;
shēng xuān luàn shí zhōng ,
But where light grows dim in the thick pines,
sè jìng shēn sōng lǐ ;
The surface of an inlet sways with nut-horns
yàng yàng fàn líng xìng ,
And weeds are lush along the banks.
chéng chéng yìng jiā wěi 。
...Down in my heart I have always been as pure
wǒ xīn sù yǐ xián ,
As this limpid water is....
qīng chuān dàn rú cǐ 。
Oh, to remain on a broad flat rock
qǐng liú pán shí shàng ,
And to cast a fishing-line forever!
chuí diào jiāng yǐ yǐ !
