過香積寺 Toward the Temple of Heaped Fragrance

王維 Wang Wei

Not knowing the way to the Temple of Heaped Fragrance,
bù zhī xiāng jī sì ,
Under miles of mountain-cloud I have wandered
shù lǐ rù yún fēng 。
Through ancient woods without a human track;
gǔ mù wú rén jìng ,
But now on the height I hear a bell.
shēn shān hé chù zhōng 。
A rillet sings over winding rocks,
quán shēng yàn wēi shí ,
The sun is tempered by green pines....
rì sè lěng qīng sōng 。
And at twilight, close to an emptying pool,
báo mù kōng tán qū ,
Thought can conquer the Passion-Dragon.
ān chán zhì dú lóng 。
