松 下 问 童 子 ，
When I questioned your pupil, under a pine-tree,
sōng xià wèn tóng zi ，
言 师 采 药 去 。
"My teacher," he answered, " went for herbs,
yán shī cǎi yào qù 。
只 在 此 山 中 ，
But toward which corner of the mountain,
zhǐ zài cǐ shān zhōng ，
云 深 不 知 处 。
How can I tell, through all these clouds ?"
yún shēn bù zhī chù 。
