When the Emperor sought guidance from wise men, from exiles,
xuān shì qiú xián fǎng zhú chén ,
He found no calmer wisdom than that of young Jia
jiǎ shēng cái diào gèng wú lún 。
And assigned him the foremost council-seat at midnight,
kě lián yè bàn xū qián xí ,
Yet asked him about gods, instead of about people.
bù wèn cāng shēng wèn guǐ shén 。
