The hermit in his lone abode
yōu rén guī dú wò ,
Nurses his thoughts cleansed of care,
zhì lǜ xǐ gū qīng ,
Them he projects to the wild goose
chí cǐ xiè gāo niǎo ,
For it to his distant Sovereign to bear.
yīn zhī chuán yuǎn qíng 。
怀
Who will be moved by the sincerity
rì xī huái kōng yì ,
Of my vain day-and-night prayer?
rén shuí gǎn zhì jīng ?
What comfort is for my loyalty
fēi chén lǐ zì gé ,
When fliers and sinkers can compare?
hé suǒ wèi wú chéng ?
